I've completed the merging of dasBlog 1.4.3297.1 into my code and it all appears to be running fine.

The biggest changes are a new WYSIWYG editor, courtesy of FreeTextBox, cross posting functionality added (which is little use to me), additional statistics (referrers, click-throughs, rss tracking)

There also appeared to be some improvements in the APIs that can be used by blogging clients, but there are few details on the dasBlog site regarding this, so I'm not sure what they are. In addition to syndicating to RSS and ATOM, dasBlog now syndicates to CDF, not that I know what that is...

UPDATE: The CDF lets you “subscribe” in the IE favorites via IE's Active Content system. It shows the site and expands to the items on the page. Kind of like a budget RSS aggregator.

UPDATE: My permalinks appear to have all changed to a new format. This leads me to believe that if you aggregate my site, all stories will appear to be new again. I'm not sure who made this decision, but the trouble doesn't seem to be worth what it gains by being reformatted. Any-which-way, my apologies if you have to mark all items read again.

It's about time...

Personal & business issues have kept me away from here far too long but I hope to resume the postings by the beginning of next week. Stay tuned!

Sure it's almost $100 on Amazon, but everyone's talking about it. The Complete Far Side: 1980-1994 contains every single "The Far Side" cartoon syndicated, all in one place.

Looks like a "must buy" to me...

I've been very happy with my Danger Hiptop (T-Mobile Sidekick). Many have complained about spotty coverage, hardware issues, etc. but for the most part I still love my little workhorse.

That being said, I may have just glimpsed the phone that will make me want to part ways with my current phone buddy, the Nokia 7700. It comes packed with a 640x320 display and 16 bit color, Symbian OS, Opera Browser, video and audio streaming, integrated camera, MMS and SMS, GSM GPRS, bluetooth and more.

Seems the device is getting some mixed reviews on /. but many of them are looking for something different than I.

Big deal, the kids barber shop that Iman gets her hair cut at has a TV at each chair and a library of all their favorite videos, and they've had that for years...

Although most people I know might not understand why, this is my favorite time of year.

Ramadan in a nutshell:

Ramadan is the ninth month of the lunar Islamic calendar. Muslims who have reached puberty, are required to fast during this month. The fasting entails abstaining from food, drink and sex between dawn and sunset each day during the month of Ramadan, which lasts 29 or 30 days.

More answers can be found at the Council on Islamic Education's website.

Dawn today is at 5:17AM and sunset is at 5:15PM each day getting progressively closer to each other until the end of Ramadan where it will be 5:44AM dawn and 4:50PM sunset, on the 24th or 25th of November.

And why don't Muslims know exactly when each month is? It is all based on the moon, and actually seeing it.

Apparently, I'm famous:

WASHINGTON, DC (Reuters) - A new Internet phenomenon has amateur and professional image editors working overtime once again. The "Narnia" Web site showcases manipulated images whose captions include the word "Nar" in them, and whose faces have been digitally replaced with a young Indian man's face.

AP - Unexpected and insidious, the earworm slinks its way into the brain and refuses to leave. Symptoms vary, although high levels of annoyance and frustration are common. There are numerous potential treatments, but no cure.

[ Yahoo! News - Oddly Enough ]

This is crap, there are 2 main cures:

  1. Queen's Bohemian Rapsody
  2. More cow bell

Take your pick...

It occurs to me that I might have a "Greatest Album of All Time" and then it occurs to me just after that, that most people might not have an opinion that strong.

So, what is your candidate for the "Greatest Album of All Time"?
