Greatest Album of All Time

It occurs to me that I might have a "Greatest Album of All Time" and then it occurs to me just after that, that most people might not have an opinion that strong.

So, what is your candidate for the "Greatest Album of All Time"?

What makes an album the "Greatest Album of All Time"?
I haven't heard one or owned one though. What comes close is U2's Rattle & Hum, or pretty much anything by them. They are the quintessential band.

For me, it's Mike Oldfield's "The Songs of Distant Earth":

It's so relaxing and futuristic sounding. The music paints a very vivid and detailed musical picture in your mind. Every song is perfect.

I guess I'll weigh in with mine:

Riiiight. Like this is even answerable. You should really post questions like this and tell no one to answer until they've had at least a month or so to think it over. If I had to give an immediate answer, I'd change the question to "What is your candidate for the 'Greatest Album of All Time' from your current music collection?" Then I'd ask myself, "What defines the Greatest Album?" I'd then answer myself, "Let's change that to what album I enjoy the most."

With that internal (and now external) monologue out of the way, I'd say...drumroll...The Beatles: White Album. The musical diversity is mind blowing and they are without a doubt one of the most influential bands ever. In fact, second only to Spork. Of course, one was an influence in what to do and the other in what NOT to do. I'll let you decide which is which.
