Crepe sighting

Until Henri can convince his Mom to make crepes for the whole company, I continue my quest for crepes, real crepes, and ones that are close enough to actually get to taste. Today's creperie is in Baltimore, which means I'll have to wait until my next trip to the aquarium, but so far it gets great ratings from everyone who's been there:

Blink and you'll miss Sofi's Crepes, wedged between the two entertainment venues on North Charles Street. It's a carryout by default; the place is only big enough to house a small counter ordering area about the size of the front seat of a Chevette.

I was in Baltimore this weekend, and it really has made some amazing strides, in terms of what it has to offer burgeois visitors like you and I, over the past 10 years.

Have you been to Cafe L'Enfant in Adams Morgan? It's pretty good, if pricey. La Creperie in Pentagon row is less expensive, slightly less tasty and very convenient -- across the street from me :)

10 years? More like 30 years. I remember going to the pit that was called Baltimore back when the aquarium opened. Baltimore is such a nice place now, comparitivly.

I've never heard of Cafe L'Enfant, show how out of touch I am with my former neighborhood.

La Creperie I found to be decent, but the don't use fresh lemons, substituting a bottled lemon juice, and for me that's just not acceptable. And since my favorite crepe is crepe citron, you can see why I haven't been back.

Perhaps, however, Henri and I should take Gruska to Cafe L'Enfant so he can see what we're talking about with our funny speak of crepes...

Crepes? Isn't that the thin pancake-like material that's filled with a variety of...fillings? I think I had that at IHOP once when I was a kid. However, I'm guessing that IHOP isn't anywhere near the top of the list for crepe connoisseurs.

You'd be guessing correct. IHOP's crepes are the eggy kind, which I don't much like, and they're barely passable at that.

Plus their fillings aren't up to par.

Speaking of crepes, I was in B-more tonight and I was told that the crepe joint next to the theater I was at was particularly good. Next time I'm in Charm city to see a movie I'd like to think I'd try them out.

Was the name of the crepe joint "Sofi's Crepes"?

Holy shnikies it is! I couldn't remember the name of the theater last night but with full brain juice this morning the name "Charles Theater" came to mind immediately. And the joint right next to it (thanks to a Google) is Sofi's Crepes.

Well, in yet another cross post, perhaps we should schedule to see Steam Boy before or after binging on crepes.
