PS2? Yes it's true...

Step into the 128-bit universe brought to you by PlayStation 2. You’ll enjoy the look, sound, and feel of unbelievable, near-cinematic realism as you play. PlayStation 2 offers the most advanced games across every genre, DVD video playback as a standard feature, Dolby Digital 5.1 theater-quality sound, and the ability to play the immense catalog of PlayStation games. So, what are you waiting for?

[ PlayStation 2 System ]

I'm not sure why this copy hasn't been rewritten since the launch of the PlayStation, as most of it is quite laughable, but apparently what I was waiting for was a price reduction, and a lull in games for my beloved GameCube. So, with a tip from N8 and the lack of inventory of a brand-new PS2 at the new $149 price tag, I ordered a refirb from eCost and it's on it's way.

The question I pose to you is, what PS2 games need to be on my GameFly list?

Geek-tacular! Congrats. As someone who I thought was dead, but wasn't, once said*: "You've taken your first step into a larger world."

* I thought that I would contribute to the geek-tacular theme.

Oh, wait, I googled it, therefore I am a geek. What a vicious circle!!!!

Don't worry. I'm pretty geek (not to mention a Star Wars geek,) and even I didn't get that reference. However, in my perusal of the google results page, I stumbled upon this link. Whoa! Star Wars Chicks!! I'm compiling my list of must play PS2 games this evening and I'll be sure to post it pretty soon.

As promised I jumped onto GameFly.com and listed all of their PS2 titles. Here's the list of what should be worth trying out.

.Hack 1-4 (Never played but I'd like to try them)
Ace Combat
Alter Echo
Ape Escape
Devil May Cry (DMC) 1-3
DMC 2
Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick (How can you not like a game starring Ash?)
Fallout Brotherhood of Steel
Futurama (probably stinks)
God of War (will pwnz j00...eventually)
Half-Life
Haven: Call of the King (great game...several years old though)
ICO
Kya: Dark Lineage
Life Line (cool concept but probably not engaging)
Mad Maestro!
Maximo: Ghosts to Glory
Maximo: Army of Zin
Mr. Mosquito
Oni
Onimusha 1-3
Primal
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Consipiracy
Red Dead Revolver
Ribbit King (Wack)
Silpheed: The Lost Planet
Sly Cooper and The Thievius Racoonus
Sly 2: Band of Thieves

I ask for a list of games that need to be in my queue, and this is the list? Oh, it's an addiction.

Apparently Dari owns Ace Combat, and I just picked up Ico, I hope to get Kingdom Hearts tonight. The best thing about buying a console this late in the game is the sheer volume of used games that you can buy for pretty cheap...

It's true. ICO is most likely very different from any other game you've ever played. Some of those games are games you just have to see to believe...that they ever got made. Ribbit King is one. Others are games that have some merit while a large portion are games that absolutely rock. I could have broken it out into categories but I thought I'd see a better reaction if I didn't qualify why each made the list.
