I'm Even Steven
Mac is just *nix under the covers, so this was a bit odd that these two popped up next to each other on Twitter:
And I haven't changed anything, I'm Even Steven!

Well you know me, Dave. I'm a Mac fanatic, so any device that I can convert into a Mac excites me. That said, however, I'm keeping the Windows XP Home installation on it the netbook and just creating a 20gig partition for OS X. I prefer being able to choose what OS I use and where I use it.

If Apple would only release their own netbook, they'd sell gazillions (though my iPod Touch is pretty close...)

Dave, I gave it a good shot. Ubuntu 8.04 -- hacked to work on the eeepc -- and fairly heavy customizations. A good 5-6 months.
Still could not get around a few key apps that DO NOT exist for Lx: the Verizon Access Manager aplet that lets you tether your Bberry for net access; Quickbooks.
Other apps I could live without, but it bugged me: iTunes, Chrome
Also, many of the Lx versions of things are really just runningg on top of Wine, which makes them slooow even when they aren't buggy (Picasa, which I use daily for blogging).
I do pull out and use a Mac powerbook for the video conf capabilities for a weekly webtv show I am on, because it integrates better with their system, but I don't like the Mac OS in terms of look/feel.
So . . . back to Winxp (xp because I have small system disk space and need a "light" OS).
