Twitter?

I can't figure out what Twitter is really for. I get the impression that it's where blog meets IM, but I'm still not seeing how the interface is going to get me to Twit ever. However, if you are on this thing, add me and maybe they'll tell me and then I can Twit with you or something. Perhaps I finally know what it feels like to be old...

Twitter is for when you are bored in class. Don't forget to get plugin for Firefox so you don't have to go to the site all the time. and register your phone so you can txt.

I don't really get it either.

Though I did see people use it once at a conference to take notes as a collective. That looked pretty useful.

I'm not sure why anyone would care about what I'm doing on a minute-by-minute basis. Maybe it helps people who formerly worked together stay in touch and feel like they're still at the same company? :D

Don't use Firefox, so the plugin isn't really going to help.

I did find a Twitter client (TwitBox), but I'm having some issues getting it to remember the settings I've chosen.

My phone is registered, not sure if I'll ever remember to use that.

I think there must be wrong with Twitter API. There has been a lot of complaints about third party applications not working well with the site. Even their own facebook app struggles at times. That's probably why some people switched to Jaiku.

It took me a while to "get it".

Basically it's for blogging things that don't merit a full blog post, e.g. a fleeting thought, a brief observation or a cool link.

Maybe I need to feel more self-important. ;) I can't see why anyone would care about my fleeting thoughts!

This is the solution to something that irks me. When blogs just post a "link update" or what ever they call it, and it's just 2-6 links or so with no editorial. What's the point? If you just want to share URLs without commenting, a blog seems like a dumb vehicle for that. Twitter, however, could be the right place for that.
