Next set of wheels

OR_ex4wd_34FRONT[1].jpg

Sure I have my GTI for another year and a half, but now is the time to start doing research on what I might be driving next. And more and more the Honda Element looks good to me.

Where will adventure lead you?

Load up the Element for a long weekend and you'll quickly notice its tremendous utility. With a tall, spacious cargo area and removable, flip-up rear seats, you can haul all the gear, tools, food, clothes and other supplies you need for the ultimate journey—and still have room for friends. Crank up the 270-watt, seven-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo system with XM Satellite Radio (EX models), and the drive alone is worth the trip. With all the options the Element gives you to hit the road with, you'll always be hungry for what's next.

Gruska has recommended a couple of auto buying links, but I'm not quite there yet, of course since I want to be able to find them later it means I must blog about them:

I know that Dari is keen on the Honda company and their never-ever-ever need repairs reputation, any one have anything that they dislike about Hondas? And yes, I picked the orange on purpose, I just like it.

I am a fan of the Element as well. However, I plan on being without a car soon. :) I will be researching Zipcar.

Ali (long story if you don't know him) was driving one the other day and said if you are even 1 minute late returning it, there is a $25 fine. That sounds like it might eventually be a serious pain.

Oh, and Dari seems to despise the fact that they "steal" perfectly good parking spots from everyone else.

That's why they recommend you always schedule it for an hour longer than you plan to have it.

Well, I think they only "steal" spots in Arlington, and I think that's Flexcar. :) I do, however, agree with him. In DC they seem to be solely in private parking spots.

Two things:

1.) Good to see that you're exploring the path to righteousness. Prepare to live your life one quarter mi... well, you know the rest.

2.) I DO think Zipcar steals the good spaces from hard-working, honest folk. You're telling me that someone who doesn't even own a car gets to park directly across the street from my destination, while I - a person who does own a car - has to circle the block endlessly? I think that's a crock of hooey. If I rented a horse, I wouldn't park it in everyone else's stable - I'd stick it around back, where it freakin' belongs. It's like paying my neighbor so that he'll allow you to steal my cable. Those scum!

When considering Honda, be sure to ask your brother & sister-in-law about the trials and tribulations of finding a battery for her Civic...
